Hello,I was working with Infosys during 2007-08 and wasnt aware of any procedure on ITRV forms. Hence I have filed through an agent and I signed on ITRV form without verifying it. When i revisit now, it says that Tax payable is 23,920 instead of 1,030 which is given in Form 16. My form 16 clearly says about Tax payable and paid tax with cheque reference number and dates on which infosys paid govt. However now, my outstanding demand is at 29,192. Can anyone please help me in appealing this? Do i need to really pay 30K now?

well, the problem is not only with your ITRV. ITRV is nothing but a reflection of the details filled in your tax return.
You cannot revise the return. Is any rectification possible, I doubt. Given that if the return itself was filled wrongly, there is no mistake apparent from record. If I am not wrong, even rectification can be done only for last 5 assessment years. So might be able to rectify you FY 200708.
Did you file the return online? If yes, check for 143(1) intimation.
If the rectification option is not available, then you may end up paying this demand, as the appeal process itself will cost you a lots of money
