16 December 2009 Dear Professional Brothers and Sisters,

I have started my career in Internal Audit in Corporates and after 3 years of passing I an now realizing that the career in Internal Audit is not rewarding. Its highest level is GM_Internal Audit where you will left as a support department and cannot go further upside.

Please suggest,
1) Whether the above statement is true?
2)Should I think for the other options, if yes then what is the area to be explored.
3)Please suggests me the better options for long term career.

16 December 2009 1. You are correct because in comparison to statutory audits; internal audits are less rewarding specially for junior ca firms. The concept of internal audit is well accepted in US since years. In India; after introduction of Corporate Governance this will emerge as a very good area for which you have to wait.

2. Till the introduction of IFRS; you should well equip yourself in auditing because this single area in future will give you immense respect and reward.

3. Unfortunately; students take auditing as theory subject while passing CA IPCC and Final.

4. For long term career; you should remain in this field because ultimately you will establish good relations with Corporate Sector.
