Kindly advise whether Interior work (spent more than 8 Lakhs) in a rental building can be capitalised.

16 October 2008 The interior work on retantal buidling can not be captalised if done on rental building. but the expenditure will be shown in the heads of "Deffered Revenue Expenditure" and will be amortised according the useful life/period of this expenses. so if company thinks than the benefit of interior will be obtained for 5 years then it will be amortised in 5 years and balance will be shown in Balance sheet (Fictitious Assets) every year
