15 May 2008 Can a Software company claim VAT input credit against VAT paid on purchase of Computers, RAM, Printer, Servers and other computer related items?

15 May 2008 yes what evere you are paying vat on input service/material you will take setoff against output vat
only which are in negative list you will not take setoff of input vat

15 May 2008 yes because you are purchasing those goods which are related in your business the vat say if you are purchase some goods for your business purpose & va is seperatly charged then you will take input credti of vat it is not important what you are selling

you can't claim input credit on items like tissue papers, fans, cooler, table etc. you can claim input credit on plant and machinery

15 May 2008 i agree with Hemant, i think Varun can claim vat credit on all items except those are in negative list.
