01 August 2024 To begin industrial training under the Chartered Accountancy (CA) curriculum, you need to meet specific eligibility criteria and follow a set procedure. Here’s a detailed overview:

### **1. Eligibility Criteria for Industrial Training**

- **Completion of Articleship:**
- You must have completed at least 2 years of your 3-year articleship before you can apply for industrial training. Since you have completed 6 months of articleship, you would need to wait until you have completed 2 years of your articleship.

- **Timing:**
- Industrial training is typically undertaken in the last year of articleship. You can start planning for it when you are in your second year of articleship.

- **Approval:**
- The company where you wish to undertake industrial training must be approved by ICAI or meet the criteria set by ICAI for industrial training.

### **2. Procedure to Apply for Industrial Training**

- **Find a Company:**
- Identify companies that offer industrial training and are either approved by ICAI or meet the criteria set by ICAI. Refer to the ICAI website or contact ICAI for a list of approved companies.

- **Prepare Application:**
- **Resume and Cover Letter:** Prepare a professional resume and a cover letter addressing the company where you are applying for industrial training.
- **Documentation:** Obtain necessary documentation from ICAI, such as Form 109 and other required forms.

- **Submit Forms to ICAI:**
- **Form 109:** This form is used to report the commencement and completion of industrial training. It needs to be submitted to ICAI.
- **Cover Letter:** Draft a cover letter addressed to ICAI explaining your intention to undertake industrial training.
- **Recommendation Letter:** If required, obtain a recommendation letter from your current principal.

- **Approval Process:**
- Submit the required documents (Form 109, cover letter, etc.) to ICAI. ICAI will review and approve your application.

### **3. Important Points to Note**

- **Industrial Training Duration:**
- The duration of industrial training is typically between 9 to 12 months.

- **Stipend:**
- Industrial training does not guarantee a stipend, but some companies may offer it.

- **ICAI Guidelines:**
- Ensure that you follow all guidelines and requirements set by ICAI for industrial training.

### **Resources for Further Information**

- **ICAI Website:**
- The official ICAI website provides detailed information about industrial training, including forms and guidelines. You can visit [ICAI’s Industrial Training Section](https://www.icai.org/post.html?post_id=17151) for more details.

- **ICAI Regional Offices:**
- You can also contact your ICAI regional office for specific queries and additional guidance on industrial training.

- **ICAI Notifications:**
- Keep an eye on ICAI notifications and circulars for updates related to industrial training.
