Assessee is a retired (salaried) employee and earns pension.However the total income for A.Y. 2012-2013 of the assessee is below 5 lacs and TDS has not been deducted(as per details shown in Form 16)thus there is no liability to be paid by the assessee.
So is the assessee required to file return for AY 2012-13 and thereafter ?

In such a case, the assessee is not required to file a return as the income is less than the exemption limit.

No need to file if all the conditions in [NOTIFICATION NO. 9/2012 [F. No.225/283/2011-ITA(II)], dated 17-2-2012] is satisfied.
