Hra limit on % of basic salary

14 May 2012 Could you please comfirm is there any limit to show HRA amount in CTC,.
Is there any maximum limit of % on basic pay can be considered in calculating HRA?

If My Gross Salary PM is Rs 100000 and i m paying 50000 pm as rent in this case can i consider basic as Rs 30000pm and HRA Rs 70000pm ?

14 May 2012 no limit for hra.
but limit is for exemption of HRA (u/s 10(10))

lower of following
1. 50%of salary (if u paid house rent in metro city) otherwise 40% of salary
2. HRA Received
3. Rent Paid - 10% of salary

in salary include only Basic Salary+ DA (As per terms of salary) + Commission
all other not include under salary for calculation of HRA.
