15 June 2010 to claim hra exemption it is necessary to show rent receipt.

my question is whether we can show rent payments to a person who doen,t own a house (but shows rental income in his IT return) and lives in their paretal house which is on name of his father. i mean if i show rent payment to 'A' (who can show rental income in his IT return) but house is on name of 'A's father. is it possible from income tax point of view to show rent receipts for claiming hra exemption or is it neccessary that the landlord must have registry on his name.

15 June 2010 sir i am aware about that but i can,t show rental income of my father's return due to taxability.

i m talking about outsiders e.g if i show rental income of my cousin and show my self as his tenant can i show rental income in my cousin's return but house is in the name of my uncle.

pls suggest
