HELP!!!!! REFUND OF SALES TAX DEPOSIT

Sales tax deposit Rs10000 was deposited when i started my business, right now am not carrying on the business since 4years can i claim the deposit amount.If yes whats the procedure and if No can i claim as bad debts.

YES YOU CAN CLAIM IT BACK. I PRESUME IT SHUD BE THE DEPOSIT GIVEN FOR PROCURING "C" FORMS ? IF YES THAN APPROACH YOUR CONCERNED STO WITH THE DEPOSIT PAYMENT CHALLANS & IF YOU HAVE CANCELLED YOUR SALES TAX NUMBER WITH THE CANCELLATION ORDER, & YOUR PROBLEM WILL GET SOLVED.

No the deposit was made to get registration under the sales tax act. Now whats the procedure to get back the deposit made since the business is not carried on and i have not yet surrendered the licence.
