04 September 2011 please explain the procedure how to become a taxpayer and how to file the returns and what are the requisites for a business person for this purpose?

04 September 2011 There are various types of taxes.. Direct taxes like wealth tax and income tax.. And indirect taxes like VAT, Service Tax, Excise etc..

You have to first get yourself registered under the tax authorities..

eg you need a PAN to get registered under the Income Tax Act or a Service Tax Number for Service Tax authorities..

Returns also depend on what sort of business you do..

Kindly clarify the nature of business you plan to enter into so that i'm able to guide you better..

05 September 2011 You need a PAN of your annual income goes beyond Rs180000..

Service tax number is required if your 'taxable services' cross 9Lacs in a year
