If you reported Futures & Options (FNO) income under Section 44AD last year but incurred a loss this year, a tax audit might be applicable. This is generally the case if you declare the loss and your total income exceeds the exemption limit. However, if you declare a minimum 6% profit, an audit may not be required. Section 44AB(e) read with Section 44AD(4) & (5) of the Income Tax Act mandates this, especially if your turnover is below the ₹1 crore threshold.
