28 October 2011 Sir,
I have recently qualified CA in july 2011 and now i want to practice in the exice customs and service tax. in our city there is only 1 practitioner in this field. and i may have ready market for this.

so, plz tell me what kind of services may i provide in this area..plz guide me,,other procedural information i vl get my self..bt what are the main service that i can provide..plz guide me so that i can take initial start up....thanks

28 October 2011 As far as Partice in Excise field is concerned the area which is more open to professionals is attending to the Appeals against SCN's before the various authorities. The clients generally don't look for services or don't seek the professional adivce on excise matters but the professional's role begins when Show Cuses Notices are recieved.

This is the area where client pays the professional.

Other areas are ususal Return filing, advice on Cenvet Matters. The Indirect Tax is a good area and you don't find many professionals in this field.

Further, it will be more beneficial if you tap Service Tax alongwith the Excise as same Deptt deal it. More controvercies are arising in Srvice Ts. And you know more the controvercies the more is the need of Professional.
