hi! where can i find the list of excise duty rate (Past as well as curent rates)applicaple on various fmcg goods like hair ol, shampoo, soaps, honey, toothpaste, etc. or can some1 tell me the details of the rates applicable? Also what are the exemptions available to such goods?

20 February 2009 You have to refer to Central Excise Tariff. Normally these goods attract valuation on MRP basis, under Section 4A of the Central Excise Act. You can refer to the relevant notification to find the abatemet admissible on MRP in valuation of the goods.

However, before putting the query here i had already searched the Schdule I to Central Excise Tarrif given on cbec site where i should have found the Excise duty rates applicable on various products. However there it does not have details of all chapters & all items. I am not able to find various fmcg products like hair oil, shampoo, toothpastes, soaps, detergents, Chyawanprash, glucose, honey,digestives, Air Freshners, Mosquito Repellent, Floor cleaner, dish wash, Toilet cleaner, Kitchen Cleaner, skin cream, etc under the Schedule I to Centarl Excise Tariff Act.

So my query still remains unsolved. It will be great if you or anyone else can help asap.
