16 August 2011 Good Morning,
I have got registered with Delhi VAT dept. since 11 months, and i havent filed my quarterly returns since beggining. what are the consequences and remedies for the same default.
One thing more i have also changed my address for principal place of business and havent intimated the VAT dept.
Now the Dept. had cancelled my registration .
Please help me out what should i do to safeguard penalty proceedings

Due to computerised recording of VAT offices introduced in almost all states dealers who do not file returns for a long periods get deregistered automatically.In some states the LVOs have the power to reopen the registration file,accept belated returns ,with penalty and interest etc,if any.So you may approach your LVO and try to make your registration active.The last resort open is to do the registration allover again.Change of address also can be rcorded in the same RC.

16 August 2011 actually my input credit is always more than my sales tax liability.
so no tax dues are there but my return have not been furnished even once.
LVO means??

17 August 2011 Mr. Author,
When your input tax is higher than the output tax,as it happens in the case of export and interstate sales,you will become eligible for refund of excess of input tax paid by you.Whatever be the case you have to file monthly returns to the LVO(Local VAT Office)of your area.You approach the VAT office, file all pending returns and claim refund of excess I/P tax.
