02 November 2010 One can inactivate/cancel DIN allotted to him if he had not been appointed as director of any company after allotment of such DIN and he has no intention to be appointed as director of any company in future also.

03 November 2010 In my opinion a DIN once allotted by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs can't be inactivated or cancelled.

No need to surrender DIN or PAN to concern authority, if you feel that in future no need of these no. I will suggest you to keep this as necessary documents.
