One of my client has an unclaimed TDS in his 26AS of Rs. 50,000/- for AY 2023-24 which was not claimed while filing his Income Tax Return. The Income earned with respect to TDS was shown in that year.
Can he claim TDS while filing his return for AY 2025-26 since he got the TDS credit late in December, 2024. Please help me in this matter.

do one thing..apply for reprocessing (rectification) of the tax return and update the TDS schedule. that should help resolve your AY 2023-24 tax credit problem

I have tried that but since that TDS was not claimed in the Original Income Tax return filed for A.Y. 2023-24 they are now not giving the TDS credit when I file Rectification return.

You have shown the income for which TDS deducted in the return already filed. You can't be denied TDS credit. File rectification under tax credit mismatch, you will get refund. If not getting refund file grievances.

Does that mean that even if I have not claimed the TDS credit in the income tax return filed with regards to the Income earned then also I can get the excess TDS credit available as per AIS or 26AS?

Yes, you are right. In such a case file rectification under tax credit mismatch and update TDS schedule and claim refund. Concerned income should have been disclosed in the earlier filed return.

just one thing. in several cases these rectifications are just not processed for a very long time. But regardless of that, the solution what Seethraman ji and I suggested.
