Which course should I opt for: CA or CFA? Which will help me achieve my goals? Which one is easier to clear? Which provides a better salary? Which will give me an international recognition and put me ahead of others? Confusion and chaos doesn’t land you anywhere so go through this infographic which sheds light on both the courses and decide which one is better.

Exam Format
The Chartered Accountant (CA) course has three levels to clear, namely:

CPT (Common Proficiency Test): It has a set of 200 multiple choice questions with negative marking for each incorrect answer.

IPCC (Integrated Professional Competence Course): It has two groups. Group 1 has four subjects and group 2 has three subjects. The exam for both the groups can be taken separately or together. All the papers contain essay type questions.

CA Final Examination: this too is divided into two groups each group containing four subjects each. The exam for both the groups can be taken separately or together. Questions asked are essay type.

The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)course has three levels to clear:

Level 1: It consists of 240 multiple choice questions split among 3 hour sessions. It has no negative marking for an incorrect answer.

Level 2: It consists of 120 multiple choice questions with no negative markings.

Level 3: It consists of 8-12 essay type questions that are conducted in the morning and 10 multiple choice questions that are conducted in the afternoon. The candidate is to appear for both.

CFA will definitely give you an edge if you want to work abroad. CFA is a course which is globally recognized. In contrast, CA will give you access to fewer countries abroad.
