20 December 2013 I'M FIRST TIME REGISTERED IN CENTRAL EXCISE. BUT DURING THE YEAR NO ANY PRODUCTION ACTIVITY WAS MADE. SO IT IS COMPULSORY FOR FILING RETURN DURING THE YEAR. PLZ HELP ME

20 December 2013 Yes, it is compulsory to file excise return. If you will not file the return then excise department can impose the penalty for non filing of excise return upto Rs. 5000/-.
