04 February 2010 Will there be any change in the indirect taxes. Applicability of GST from 01.04.10. Will there be any change in excise act and customs act?

Is there any chance of making GST applicable for May 2010.

08 February 2010 There would be significant changes in indirect taxes pursuant to introduction of GST. Apart from Basic Customs duty, all other Customs duties, Excise duty, Service tax, VAT and CST are supposed to be merged into GST.

Now it has been officially announced that GST would not be introduced from April 2010. My estimate is April 2011.
