13 April 2015 Any Agricultural Land situated within 8 km(maximum) from municipal/cantonment board is said to be as agricultural land situated in urban area and the rest beyond it is said as agricutural land in rural area.But we have Municipal Corporation in some areas and for some areas we have Gram Panchayat. So whether this provision of classifying agricultural land on the basis of distance is applicable from gram panchayat or not. Is Gram Panchayat a part of municipal corporation or is it a distinct body.

2. Agriculture land in Gram Panchayat can be treated as Urban Land if it is within the 8 KM range or notified area of municipal corporation for urbanisation.

3. For deciding the nature at a particular place, distance from the the municipal limits only is applicable.
