Why did government fixed 18 as age of majority? Why not 16 or 19 or any other age? what happens only at the age of 18 that a person becomes a major?

same may apply if we fix the age at 15/16. The society keeps re-evaluating its position on when a person is mature enough for certain decision making situations. So while you can vote at 18 but cannot be elected at that age. There is other major logic behind any of it except for perception.
