04 June 2011 Resp Sir,

Have a question about the in short term accomodation..suppose hav stayed two days in a normal hotel & they raised the bill 5000/-including service tax,but they not specifyed in bill charges as per below:

Net-4600/-
St-400/-
Total-5000/-

Let me know what is rate of accomodation & should i pay if they are not registered in st dept.

04 June 2011 5% of bill amount excluding food and beverages. They cannot collect tax if they are unregistered under service tax.

04 June 2011 Sir,

1.As per ur reply if they are unregistered then why should i pay service tax ?
2.If mention in bill in the place of st i.e "applied for",but not getting ST no.then let me know can i pay service tax?

please suggest my two questions also.

04 June 2011 If they are unregistered you can challenge. But if they have initiated registration, it is bonafide and you can pay tax . Service tax registration is online and it takes only one day to complete the process.
