The Assessee in the case of a scrutiny has submitted all the loan confirmations. The A.O. had called for confirmations directly from the parties vide letter u/s133(6). in a few cases there was no response from the clients. Is the A.O. justified in adding the amounts in all such cases as income of the assessee
What remedy if the contents of the letters as issued by the A.O. u/s 133(6) are found to be incorrect

If there is no response to letter u/s 133(6) AO could have issued summons to appear before him u/s 131. He cannot add the amount in hands of the assessee.
