10 August 2010 Regards sir plz tell me what condition is liable for a contractor to registration with service tax.

10 August 2010 dear rajiv,
in your question it is nor clear what are the work which the contractor gets contract. first off all the contract work are not under the purveiw of service tax criteria. second if any abatemement is need to be availed or not. third whether the contractor work comes under both exempted or taxable service category.
in all the casess GTA must be there. so whether the contractor is a firm or individual.

if your service is listed than check your tearn over of current year if it is about to cross 10 lakh at the end of current year and your current tearn over 9 lakh than you should aply for service tax no. as soon as possible.
