By mistake I have mentioned wrong asessment year in challan receipt for advance tax
Can I go ahead and file ITR with same challan reciept for 13-14?
How do I get it corrected ? Can I write a letter to AO and post it ? Or Do I need to go in person to IT office.

still its 18/7/13 today, its better to meet ur jurisdictional ao and explain him ur sitaution and ask him to allow you to file itr on or before 31.7.13.

Have I to go in person to get this changes done ? Will sending letter by post to AO will work ?

It will be better if you visit personally.

post will take mre then 7 days and now only 12days left for 31.7.13 out of which there are 2 sundays so effectively there are only 10 days in ur hand.
