27 April 2012 i am starting a website and will accept the payment through paypal payment gateway (as buyers would be from US only)
do i need to register for service tax for accepting such payment or can i open a individual current account to accept the payment

27 April 2012 am trying to cover all the bases of your question, not sure what you meant by Payment Gateway.

Do you have a PAN card in the name of your firm/busniess? OR only a pan in your individual name??

27 April 2012 you'll be offering wht...a service or a tangile product through website. if you are offering for sale a tangible product thn no need of the service tax you'll be required to get registered under your local sales tax or say vat.

27 April 2012 it's service (educational), but cant be done as a individual by giving my pan card number and without registering for service tax

27 April 2012 You can render the same without getting yourself registered to the service tax, till the time your receipt does not crosses the sum of Rs. 9 lac. As soon as ur receipt in a year crosses the figure of 9 lac apply for registration and from the figure of just after the figure of 10 lacs u need to charge service tax in the current year and also in the subsequent year too.
