Yes, the VAT rate on raisins (bedana) in Maharashtra was reduced to **0%** from **5%** starting **June 1, 2010**. This change was part of a broader initiative to promote the raisin industry in the state. The reduction was confirmed during a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on April 2, 2012, as reported by local media .([The Times of India][1])
This move was aimed at providing relief to raisin manufacturers and encouraging the resumption of open auctions for raisins, which had previously been halted due to the higher VAT rate.([The Times of India][1])
