Here’s a quick summary and advice for your situation about filing Income Tax Returns (ITR) as unaudited instead of audited:
---
### Issue:
* **ITR filed as unaudited** mistakenly. * Due date shown as July (for unaudited) instead of September (for audited). * Concern about the correct deadline and how to fix the error.
---
### What to do:
1. **Revised Return Filing:**
* You can file a **Revised Return** under Section 139(5) of the Income Tax Act. * The last date to file a revised return is **generally 31st March of the assessment year** (for example, for FY 2010-11, it’s 31 March 2012). * In this revised return, you can submit the correct **audited financial statements** and correct the details.
2. **Due Date Confusion:**
* The due date for filing a return with audited accounts is **30th September**. * If you filed before 30th September but as unaudited, you can still revise the return before 31st March next year to reflect audited status. * The Income Tax Department allows the revised return to replace the original return.
3. **Action Steps:**
* Prepare the audited financial statements. * File the revised ITR with audited details before 31st March of the assessment year. * Make sure the revised return clearly states it is revised and attaches audited accounts.

### Important:
* Filing revised return is the correct and legal way to fix mistakes like this. * Ensure to keep proof of filing and audited documents handy.
