For how many past years, Can I fill ITR 4.
One of my colleagues told me that due to a notification of IT Dept., we can now fill ITR 4 upto past 6 years.

05 August 2015 yes, what your friend has told you is RIGHT.

Please try to take into account the context in which your friend has said this.

Financial Year 2013-14...you can file the return of income latest by 31/03/2016.

For earlier years, you may take the permission from the Chief Commissioneer of your jurisdiction, for filing the return.

05 August 2015 Write a simple yet polite letter requesting the Chief Comissioneer to file the earlier years' return of income, If possible, give the reason for the same. Let the reason be TRUE and FAIR.
