18 July 2012 Can a trust having in the name "PRIVATE" with the objective of Charitable Purpose for charitable purpose in the form annadanam etc. can claim exemption u/s. 11

i.e. example name of the trust is "ABC Family Private Trust", but the object of the trust to provide Food to the poor children, Educational support etc. can claim exemption u/s. 11

19 July 2012 suppose you are doing charitable work, then why you are going to create this type of trust. I think you can not create trust in the name of Private. You can create trust under Indian Trust Act, society registration Act and companies act. kindly check this with expert people.

Its' an age old trust formed in 60s and registered then.

20 July 2012 but under which act

assuming (in the Indian Trust Act)

it can claim Exemption
but it needs to be registered U/s 12A
it should also fulfill the criteria of 12A
