I have paid Rs. 1100/- for conversion from CA Final(Old)Syllabus to (New). Now there is announcement for automatic conversion without any payment. Will there be any credit for me for the paid amount when buying the new study material or get it refunded in due course. Will ICAI do anything to give justice to the students who had complied the required procedures. The persons who had not complied the ICAI notification now stand in a better position.Kindly any of our experts may give guidance in this issue.

Dear Sirs, Kindly advise me in the above matter and provide link to any ICAI Notification relevant in this case.

This is a common concern among CA students who paid the conversion fee before ICAI’s announcement of automatic conversion without payment. Here’s the general understanding and likely position:
---
### What happened?
* Initially, ICAI required students to pay Rs. 1100/- to convert from the **Old CA Final syllabus** to the **New syllabus**. * Later, ICAI announced **automatic conversion without any fee** for those eligible. * Students who already paid the fee are understandably concerned about **refunds or credits**.
---
### Will ICAI refund or credit the Rs. 1100/-?
* **Official announcements or circulars from ICAI** should ideally clarify this. * Historically, ICAI has not refunded fees already collected if there was no formal provision for it. * However, sometimes ICAI may offer **credit towards study material or future fees** in some cases. * There is **no publicly known official announcement** of refund or credit for this specific Rs. 1100/- fee. * Usually, such fees are considered **non-refundable** unless expressly mentioned.
---
### What should you do?
* **Check ICAI’s official notifications** on their website or contact the regional office for any updates. * **Write a formal representation** to ICAI explaining your case and request consideration. * Stay updated via CA forums and ICAI circulars—sometimes, students’ petitions lead to relief measures.
---
### Is this fair?
* Many students feel it is unfair since some had to pay while others got automatic conversion. * Unfortunately, once the fee is paid and accepted, ICAI generally considers it a closed transaction. * The best course is to seek clarification and request some form of credit or concession.
