TDS TO TRANSPORTERS

28 January 2011 Respected Sir,
TDS on payment to transporters/transport contrators has been withdrawn w.e.f 1/10/2009. We are follwing the same and making the payment without deduction of TDS. But there is one question in my mind whether at the of filling TDS Return we have to show the name, PAN and amount paid to the transporters! because there is one column in tds return asking reason for non-deduction of tds.
We have filed the tds return up dec 2010 mentioning only those parties details whome tds has deducted.

We just wanted to know that whether our this practice on right way or we are doing some thing wrong!. Please help me.

28 January 2011 Yes you have to show the details of Transporter in case the transaction exceed the threshold limit.You need to mention their PAN , Name & Amount paid credited. Rate of TDS will be mention 0% if PAN is Quoted and TDS amount Nil. Reason of lower deduction select Transporter.
