SIR, Whether Form 16 downloaded from the TIN website is sufficient for an employer to issue to its employees as it does not contain any information about salary?
OR
the employer is required to prepare Form 16 manually and these are provided for just verfication purpose?

Form 16 downloaded is sufficient. One can also see the TDS credit given in Form 26AS. Ultimately TDS benefit will be available only when it is being shown in Form 26AS

Form 16 if not containing details downloaded from NSDL site, View 26AS and furnish Form 16 manually, as there is no restriction in issuing Form 16, and the Site has not been developed completely in these regard. No issue in Issuing Form 16 manually

Form 16 download from the site is very well enough. In case the company want to issue manually also it would be fine. By the way this process is applicable only for companies from 01.04.2011 and for all assessee from 01.04.2012

Here’s the clarity on your Form 16 query:
---
### Key Points:
1. **Form 16 downloaded from TIN NSDL website** typically contains:
* **Part A**: TDS details, including TDS deducted, deposited, TAN, PAN, etc. * **Part C** (sometimes called Part D in some versions): Summary of TDS deducted on salary.
2. **Part B of Form 16**, which contains detailed salary breakup, deductions, exemptions, and investment details, **is not generated automatically** from the TIN website.
3. The **employer is responsible** to **prepare and provide Part B manually** to employees because:
* Salary breakup and investment declarations are known only to the employer. * These details are essential for employees to understand their taxable income and verify tax calculations.
4. **From 01.04.2011 (for companies) and 01.04.2012 (for all assessees),** the process of downloading Part A from TIN and preparing Part B manually has been accepted as the norm.
---
### So, to answer your questions:
* **Is Form 16 downloaded from TIN site sufficient?** It is sufficient **only for Part A (TDS credits)** but **NOT sufficient as a complete Form 16** since it lacks salary and investment details.
* **Is the employer required to prepare Form 16 manually?** Yes, employers **must prepare Part B (salary and investment details) manually** and issue the complete Form 16 (Parts A + B) to employees.
* **Can Form 16 downloaded from TIN be issued as such?** It can be used **for verification or reconciliation** purposes, but the employee’s official Form 16 must contain detailed salary info as well.
---
### Summary
* Downloaded Form 16 = Part A + TDS info only. * Complete Form 16 = Part A (from TIN) + Part B (salary + deductions prepared manually by employer). * Employer must provide the complete Form 16 with Part B. * Employees should check Form 26AS for TDS credit confirmation.

If you want, I can help you draft a template for Part B of Form 16 or guide on how to prepare the manual salary details portion. Would that help?
