17 April 2014 I HAD GIVEN WRONG PAN IN REGULAR STATEMENT, AND LATER ON I HAVE FILED RECTIFIED THE PAN OF DEDUCTEE BY FILING CORRECTION STATMENT, INSPITE OF WHICH I HAVE RECEIVED NOTICE DEMANDING 20% T.D.S WHAT SHOULD I DO PLLLLZZZZZZZZ HELP..

17 April 2014 it may possible that your return not process by deptt.

or

'PAN YOU Fill in return may wrong
pls call photocopy of PAN then check online PAN status . then you check your return.

17 April 2014 no the pan is correct in correction statement , i have called the toll free no. they r saying that pan correction is possible only by 2 digit plzz help..

17 April 2014 well yes, it is so. you can only correct 2 digits in the PAN. correction beyond that is not acceptable.

17 April 2014 well as such there is nothing to do. many people face similar problem. you may refer https://taxguru.in/income-tax/rectification-tds-statement-pan-error-2-characters.html

however, what can be done, is that you can challenge this restriction, first with CIT(A) and if a negative judgment comes, then with ITAT because as such there is nothing in the act or rules that restrict amendment to 2 digits. it is merely a procedural restriction placed by the CPC for convenience.
