When you need to make **online corrections in TDS returns** due to issues like **challan mismatch, PAN error, or overbooking**, here’s a step-by-step guide to handle it:
---
### How to do online correction for TDS returns:
1. **Login to the TIN NSDL TDS/CPC website** ([https://www.tdscpc.gov.in/app/login.xhtml](https://www.tdscpc.gov.in/app/login.xhtml))
2. **Download the Original TDS Return File**
* Go to **View Correction Status / Download Acknowledgement** section. * Download the originally filed return file (.fvu or .txt) related to the quarter you want to correct.
3. **Make corrections in the original file**
* Use your TDS Return Preparation Utility (RPU) software (Excel or offline utility provided by NSDL) to open the downloaded file. * Correct the errors: PAN corrections, challan details, amount, or any other data. * Generate a revised TDS return file after making corrections.
4. **Upload the Revised TDS Return Online**
* On the TDS CPC website, go to **Upload TDS Return** section. * Upload the corrected file (revised return). * You must use the **same acknowledgment number** and choose the option as a **“Revised” return**.
5. **Verification**
* After uploading, verify the return either electronically via DSC or by sending physical signed documents to CPC, as required.
6. **Wait for Processing**
* Once submitted correctly, the processing team will accept the revised return and resolve the issue.
---
### Important Notes:
* Corrections should be filed **before processing starts** or **as soon as you receive a communication from CPC** for errors. * If the return is already processed, you still can file a revised return, but it will take time to update in the system. * **PAN corrections:** You may also need to submit a request to the IT department separately if PAN mismatch is due to name or date of birth issues.

If you want, I can guide you stepwise on using the Return Preparation Utility (RPU) to make corrections in the file. Would you like that?
