07 March 2012 our client is a private ltd company which incur Printing and stationary expenses which is more than Rs 75000 per annum in aggreagate it comes to 3 to 4 lacs per annum . whether they are required to deduct Tax on the payment made to the suppliers on printing as per their specification. If yes do mention the rate of tax to be deducted and section. they have not entered into any contract with the suppliers.

07 March 2012 TDS provision applies in this case. TDS @ 2% need to be deducted if the supplier provides his PAN;otherwise, TDS 20%.

07 March 2012 Section 194C has been substituted w.e.f 1/10/2009.
Accordingly, if the printer purchases the printing materials from you and executes the job therein and supply the printed material to you, then only TDS provisions attracts.
Here, you have to see that, the printer issues the bill in such a way that it contains the details of the materials supplied by you and the charges of their job separately.
