05 November 2009 Hi there...i just wanted to know if my mother have FD of 7lac with the State bank of india and got the interest aprox 57000/- after the maturity last year... and bank has deducted the TDS saying interest earned is more then 10000/-.... is there any provision if we could get the tax refund , i have tds certificate with me..

2. in which case we get the TDS refund ?

05 November 2009 1. File income tax return and seek refund.
2. If the TDS is more than the tax payable, your mother is eligible for tax refund with interest.

05 November 2009 my mother is getting pension from government aprox 4000/- per month, and TDS on FD was deducted last year only..interest received on FD is 57000/- ..and for women exempted income was 180000/- last year. in this case i can file the return and can claim for the refund..is that correct ?

05 November 2009 Yes yur mother income is below the taxable limit. So you file the return of income claiming refund of tds deducted. It will automatically available to you when the case is processed by IT department.
