Tds deduction on salary

This query is : Resolved

01 March 2019 Suppose,

I am firm and having 25 employees, one of my employee is having yearly salary of 420000 gross and having eligible 80c deduction amounting to 20000.

If above is the situation and applicable standard deduction will be 40000 as per norms then what will be TDS implications?

Is my answer of deducting 5500rs is correct?

01 March 2019 420000-40000 = 380000 net salary
20000 = 80C
360000 = total income
5% tax rate

Sir, As per my knowledge as per TDS will be deducted after deducting basic income limit of 2.5 lakh from 3.6 lakh.

So, on what basis you are saying to deduct TDS on 3.6 lakh??

Kindly elaborate...!!

01 March 2019 3.6 lakhs - 2.5lakhs (87A is not available in this case)
1.1 lakh * 5% = 5500
5500*4% = 220
5500+220 = 5720
