28 June 2012 dear sir,
i want to file my income tax return online. on my pan TDS of rs. 17000 is deducted which is shown on form 26 AS but it status is shown as "U " in 26 AS ,now please tell me can i claim tds as tax credit, and same can be refunded by ITD or not. I have also obtained form 16 and TDS deductor is a pvt ltd. company

28 June 2012 Since the status is unmatched, you will NOT be given credit of such TDS.

Ask your deductor to revise its TDS return.

30 June 2012 Having a Form 16 is of no use unless the status is final.

The department will give credit of only TDS which has the status "F" - Final.
