Hi, I have recently paid my TV cable Chanel bill for the last month. The monthly rental is calculated with service tax. The bill that he provided me without any information about service tax registration no.
My questions are: 1. How can I know that the tax I paid, he actually deposited?
2. Should there be service tax registration no. written on the invoice that he provided?
3. What action can I take against it?

answer :you need not know whether service tax is paid or not
2. Should there be service tax registration no. written on the invoice that he provided?
Answer : Yes, there has to be service tax registration number mentioned on the invoice
3. What action can I take against it?
Answer :- a. ask the cable person to provide you the service tax registration number and also to print it on the invoice
b. File an RTI in service tax department for info about registration of the cable person, and
c. file a complaint with copy of bill etc in service tax department

use option A and C. Option B is a slow process.
if option A doesnt work, threaten the cable operator that you will file complaint with service tax department. Normally it should work.
