17 March 2015 I have to file stay petition before Assessing Officer. Can any one please suggest me the format in which the stay petition is to be filed?

17 March 2015 There is no specific format for filing stay petition. But draft your petition in such a way that you bring out clearly your case as to why you should be granted stay of demand such as genuine financial hardship in paying the demand etc. Also quote some relevant case laws. Do some research on the subject and you will find plenty of judgments and other material on the same. There are many judgments in which it has been laid down that where assessed income is substantially less than the returned income for example twice or more than the returned income than stay should be granted.
