This query is : Resolved

05 August 2007 Dear All Member,

I am a practising CA in Chennai. I would like to know that whether i can sign tax audit report of another city where i dont have a branch? and while signing in case of place which city should i mention , Chennai or the city where i am signing the Balance sheet ?

05 August 2007 Dear Sir

You can very much sign a tax audit report of an assessee who has his place of business in a place different from your professional place. It is absolutely right.l

You may rightly mention the station as Chennai since you complete the process very much at Chennai.

You should have adequate evidence as to stock, Sec 40 A (3) compliance, Sec 40 A (2) compliance, representations relating to other items like bad debts, donations to political parties etc as strictly guided by ICAI guidance notes.

If an auditor has to sign a tax audit only when he has got a branche at the respective place most of CAs cannot sign the reports.

You sign your tax audit report with your stationery from your office address only. There need not be any doubt.
