HI I AM A GOVT EMPLOYEE .RECENTLY I GOT AN INTIMATION OF SHOW CAUSE NOTICE OF INCOME TAX DEPARTMENT UNDER SEC-143(1)..AS PER THE NOTICE THEY ASKED ME TO PAY AN AMOUNT OF RS.-55000 FOR THE FINANCIAL YEAR 2010-2011.
AS I AM A GOVT. EMPLOYEE AND GET MY MONTHLY INCOME AFTER TDS , THEN WHY THE INCOME TAX DEPARTMENT SENDING ME SUCH A NOTICE. WHAT WILL I DO NOW ..PLEASE GUIDE ME .. I AM BIT NERVOUS . THE ASSESS OFFICER ALSO ASK ME TO MEET IN PERSON ON 7-2-2012.SO PLS HELP ME OUT HERE

DO not panic...
1st of all read the notice recieved by you from the IT dept.. It is not Show Cause Notice...while it is an deemed intimation issued to you...which is based on the processing of return filed by you..
Even if he has given you that Show Cuase Notice and asked you to present in person or throgh your representative then just go to him with all your papers related to that year like bank statement, form-16 (salary Certificate) etc...
Ensure yourselves before going to him that you are not liable to tax over and above what is deducted by the employer...
Once again do not be panic...
