Short term capital gains

02 August 2011 If I sell a residential apartment within two years of its allotment/booking and buy another residential property costing more than the capital gain from sale of the old property, will I be taxed for short term capital gain? Can I claim the exemption u/s 54 fr short term capital gain?

03 August 2011 It is a short term capital gain. Benefit under section 54 will be denied.
