26 June 2013 what do ST013,ST003,ST001,ST005,SD003 etc indicate in Service Tax Registration Code?
What are the possibilities other than the ones mentioned above??

26 June 2013 Apart from the ones you mentioned, it may be SD001, SD002.

26 June 2013 I came across Circular No.35/3/2001-CX.4 which says
The STC Number will be PAN + alpha-code (ST) + numeric-code (001). If there are more than one premises or offices registered of such a person having common PAN for all such premises or offices, the last numeric code of STC Number would be "001, 002, 003, ….., etc."

26 June 2013 I came across one service tax registration code which ends in ST036.
So as per the above circular it would mean that this particular assessee is giving service from 36 different premises and has taken 36 service tax registration codes???

27 June 2013 Yes, it mean these assessee has taken service tax registration 36 times and providing services from 36 different locations.
