Service tax paid twice by mistake

09 January 2017 My Brother has paid Service Tax Twice by Mistake and Two challan's was generated and the amount of service tax paid is Rs: 11,00,000 for the 3rd quarter. Is there is any way to get refund from service tax department.

09 January 2017 There is 2 options first one extra paid can be adjusted for future service tax liability.
Once services tax refund claim filed adjustment is not possible,
For refund applications to be filed before expiry period of limitation of one year.

Applications to be accompanied by documentary evidence for excess service tax paid. Application for refund request can be made online under Ref tab> Refund request > create and submit request.

10 January 2017 thank you for the valuable information. could you please let me know how much time does it take to get refund . Do we get any solution if we met concerned service tax assassing officer.

10 January 2017 Refund applications filed is justified than service tax department will refund within 3 months. From justified period.

10 January 2017 Getting refund from Service Tax department is bit difficult.
Adjusting the excess paid service tax for the next period, but within the same financial year is easy.

10 January 2017 If it is small amount then we can adjust sir, but it is huge amount for us appx Rs: 11,00,000. Do we find any solution if we approach Service tax assessing officer regarding this issue.
