22 June 2012 Your inquiry is not complete. However it is understood that you intend to know whether service tax is leviable on transaction of Rs. 1000/-.

There is a threshold exemption of Rs. 10 lacs to a service provider. If the service provider has crossed the threshold limit, then every Rupee earned as a consideration towards providing of services then , it will be taxable.

Yes, mr vijaye anand, the service tax is payable on 25% of the freight amount of Rs.1000/-, if the freight amount is paid by you as consignor or consignee.
