Service tax liable for tds

29 March 2012 When a Chartered Accountant charging a bill for the service done by him,In the bill whether TDS is to be deducted for service tax also?

Note : Professional income exceeds Rs.10 lakhs and annual service charge exceeds Rs.50,000/-

29 March 2012 Yes, income tax has to be deducted on the service tax component also meaning thereby section 194J applies on the gross amount of the bill.

29 March 2012 Under Section 194J, TDS is required to be deducted on the total bill amount, including service tax.
