Dear Expert,
pls guide me, whether it is necessary that exemption can only be allowed if the same is shown in form 16 . for example if the employer does not allow exemption of house rent allowance then whether an assessee can take exemption on his own motion

Incase employee has the proper proof and justification, even employer not allowed, employee can take exemption
