Salary from more than one employer

09 January 2014 Hi,

Please guide. Employees have joined in the company in mid of the year and some of them could not submit their previous company's salary income since they have not received the salary/income certificate from the previous employer. Is this mandatory for company to get the income details from employee for correctly deduction TDS?

09 January 2014 Declaration by the previous employment income is option of the employee. employer need to ask for the declaration ,in case employee not declared, employer will not responsible. in case employee submit the details employer need to consider and calculate the total tds

09 January 2014 and please note that where you dont provide the details, it would result in short deduction on overall basis as often both employers work out the TDS providing for Rs 2 lakh exemption...So the exemption limit is counted twice. In such a case you would have to shell out the balance tax on your own.
